Meet Zoey!!

While on spring break, our dog Willie was at the kennel.  It was a kennel that we had never used before and the only one in our area with vacancy as I waited until the last minute to decide we needed to get away.  On Friday after our "wonderful" spring break (see prev blog), we headed over to pick up the dog.  Shane sent me in as he is MY DOG!  As I waited for Vickie to go get Willie, the nicest cat was sitting on the counter.  I told Vickie, "My girls would love to take her home."  She said, " You can take her home."  I said, "oh, my husband would never let me take her home.  He says we are done with animals."  I got Willie and away we went.

Oh the way home I told Shane that I met the nicest cat.  She was sooooo SWEET!  She snuggled me while I was waiting on Willie, blah, blah, blah, and I would LOVE to take her home.  He said, (are you sitting down for this??)  "YOU CAN TAKE HER HOME IF YOU WANT".  WHAT??  Hello? Is this Shane talking?? Did an alien take over your brain and mouth and make you say something YOU will regret??  I said, " I can take her home?"  He said, "I don't care."  My heart starts racing, my blood pressure starts rising.  I'm wondering when I'm going to have time to go get litter and food and stuff that cats need.  We later get home from running errands and Piper and I go up to Chloe's room for our afternoon nap.  I sneak my cellphone and call the kennel back and tell them that I DO want to take "momma cat" home and that my husband said we could.  No answer so I leave them a message with my cell phone number and we sleep with it under our pillow.  We wake up and still no call back.  I am dying inside, I'm sooo EXCITED!!  I go to a dr appointment for my sinuses and come home.  Still no call so I leave them yet another message.  UUugghh....

Saturday morning she calls and I ask about her vaccinations, and how she'll get along with a dog and FOUR KIDS!!  She says fine as she has a 2 year old grandson that "momma cat" doesn't bother.  OK we'll take her!!

The girls and I decided to change her name from "Momma Cat" to Zoey!!  She is the tamest and sweetest cat I have ever met!!  (and she Loves Shane)

The Sindlinger Spring Break?

Last week was our Spring Break and I always get a wild hair that we should do something FUN.  So, wanting to go see my Grandma (she is 87) we head down to the SouthEast part of the state on Tuesday, stopping at the mall on the way to see the Easter Bunny and to stretch our legs (it is a 2 hour drive to this particular mall).  We bring along our nephew Max as he is part of the family and we do just that--stretch our legs, see the bunny, eat lunch and play a little while before heading to see Grandma Wilma.  So far, the trip is uneventful (good!!).  We stop and see Grandma and talk a little while and then we head out to the hotel, which is another 40 minute drive.  We get there and get a room and within minutes we are dressed and heading out our sliding glass door to the pool.  (life is still uneventful ;-)!!)  The hotel is AWESOME!! It has a waterpark, a huge arcade, bowling, laser tag area, casino, more stuff than we participated in.  And it's pretty cheap too!  My cousin, Pam and her 3 kids and my sister and her daughter come swim with us for the evening.  They each live about 20 minutes away.  When the evening comes to an end, we all head back to our room.  We have 5 kids and 2 parents in a normal size hotel room ( I should have sprang for the room next door with THREE sets of bunk beds!).  Max(age 8) and Chloe(age 8) win the wager for sleeping in the bed first and Teagan(age 5) and Piper (age 3) are suppose to sleep on the floor and then they'll switch the next night.  Teagan is SOOO tired she cries herself to sleep on the foot of their bed, Piper doesn't want to sleep alone so she cries and her dad sleeps on the hard floor with her and I can't get Aftyn (13mos) to sleep so she FINALLY collapses with exhaustion at 10pm in my bed with me.  That lasts about until 1 am when Aftyn starts puking!!  I yell for Shane to grab a towel so he jumps off the floor and runs to the bathroom.  YUCK!!  Mind you, she puked 8 times at home the night before but we decided to travel anyway!  (hhmmm, maybe we'll rethink that next time)

The next day, she seems better and we go to breakfast and tell the front desk of our situation.  We find a buffet.  I generally don't care much for buffets and this was no exception.  Finding table food for a 13month old is hard enough, let alone one with a delicate stomach.  We managed and spent the rest of the morning swimming.

Piper and Aftyn still nap so I planned on going for a drive as I wanted to find my sister's place and a couple of other sites and I figured that would be a sure way to get them to sleep.  Well, it worked for Aftyn but Piper, for some reason, is starting to take after her big sister, Teagan, in that she doesn't ever SHUT UP!!  So she talked for an hour on our drive and Aftyn slept--not sure HOW!!?  Meanwhile, Shane took the others bowling.

That evening we decided to go see my sister and her daughter, Isabelle and my mom was coming from Kansas City so we were all going to go out and have dinner.  We got to Alicia's place and played and talked awhile and I didn't feel well so that visit was cut short by my upset stomach.  The kids didn't really want to go out to eat anyway as the pool was calling their name.
Before we left, I asked Alicia for a barf bucket and had to use it before we got back to the hotel.  It was a LONG night!!

The next day, we swam a little in the morning before we had to check out of the hotel.  I did feel better but not yet 100%.

The drive home went pretty well considering the prev 2 days kind of stunk!

Yeah!!  We finally make it to town and drop off Max.  We walk in the door and Piper says her belly hurts.  Oh great!  I set her up in the chair with the infamous barf bucket(clean, of course) and a towel and a movie.  What more do you want when your sick.  Shane and I are outside cleaning out the van when Chloe comes running out "mom, Piper is looking for you. "  I said, "what does she want?"  "I don't know."  So I go in to see what's the matter to find her doubled over vomiting  on my carpet 2 feet away from the chair and the barf bucket and the towel.  HHEELLOOOOO...  haven't we been over this?? Puke anywhere but the carpet, please!!

What a Great Spring Break!!  Where we going next year, Honey???
