THis was just 2 weeks ago. I put the kids supper up here because he's NEVER been up there before. He got up there to eat Taffy's pizza and didn't want to get down. You can see here he's not holding his head as high as he used to...he's starting to feel miserable.
Willie loved ME (I was his alpha) and he LOVED going on a car ride with me.
He loved playing in the snow with the kids.
He didn't care who was around--he wanted to be with us.
We had to put our dog of 13 years down yesterday after his failing liver and kidney disease had progressed. This last week he was a walking zombie. He lost a solid 5-8 lbs in the last couple of months. He didn't feel well and seemed pretty miserable. He quit eating his food and taking his pill at the beginning of the week. It was a LONG week for me with LOTS OF TEARS!! (from ME) He was such a GREAT dog welcoming all 4 of our kids without any reservations and even a new cat, Zoey, last year. He took it all in stride and didn't seem to be bothered by any of it. I will REALLY miss him!! He was my very first real pet dog. We had others growing up but none were allowed in the house. Unfortunately, I'm not sure Shane will let us welcome another dog into the house again. I am ready to be done with a dog for now but I can say that if he said we could have another, I would JUMP on the chance. I'm not sure what I would pick but I would like one that doesn't shed and that doesn't need a haircut. Anyway, I feel much better that he's in a better place, free from the pain that really struck him in the last week or so and I hope he's enjoying Dog Heaven. I sure do miss him but for selfish reasons. Good bye, little buddy. I miss you! Enough for now...-AS

Aww...that is so sad. I am glad he is not in pain anymore.
I'm glad you had 13 years with him but sad he is gone. I wish dogs lived longer!!!
